As Leader (co-leader, or any other important part)

Sornette

Sornette is the result of a meeting of four strong personalities in Burgundy. With saxophone, trumpet, double bass, and drums, it's no surprise that this quartet draws its inspiration from the world of musicians such as Ornette Coleman, John Coltrane, and Mark Turner.

The group plays slightly experimental compositions, taking a few risks without ever abandoning the freedom of improvisation.

Discover this unpredictable, unfiltered quartet that will try to take you into their world without pretension!

Line up: Yonatan Hes (alto saxophone), Pierre-Antoine Savoyat (trumpet, flugelhorn), Jonathan Chamand (bass), Loup Godfroy (drums)

Q-Some Big Band

Q-Some Big Band is a place for development and encounter where the newest generation of (jazz)composers and musicians meet and challenge each other. It is a platform to explore the possibilities within the genre and to let a new, contemporary wind blow through the big band landscape. With their constantly innovative programmes and unexpected musical collaborations, this orchestra crosses boundaries, in which the passion for the profession, the warmth within the band and, above all, the bigger dreams are clearly audible.

Bruteleiir Collectiif

The Bruteleiir Colectiif started from the idea of Matteo, Denis, Simon and Pierre-Antoine to create a band where their music could explode without any boundaries, and where every tune could be adaptable to different lineups. Started as a quartet quickly became a sextet, but the line-up is always subject to be extended, which is why they decided to call it a « collective ». The name is a contraction of the words  « Brute » and « Brusseleir » which is the dialect spoken in Brussels. The band is a laboratory where the music can easily touch some extreme parameters: loudness, dissonance, interactions, and freedom, and find the perfect balance between these elements.

Line-up: Simon Groppe (piano, keys), Matteo Mazzu (electric bass), Denis Baeten (drums), Pierre-Antoine Savoyat (trumpet, flugelhorn), Ambroos de Schepper (saxs), Sylvain Debaisieux (saxs)

Universe

Big Band Chalon Bourgogne featuring Matthieu Michel
