On stage, an artist reveals a side of his personality that one can rarely see in the everyday life. He can experience questionings or doubts but sometimes certainties are a way to assert himself. Following this idea, the French-Brusselair trumpeter Pierre-Antoine Savoyat creates « Le Monde Merveilleux de Pepito » (« The Amazing World of Pepito »), the nickname of this side in which he is without filter and deeply sincere.

The beginning of this world was born in Chalon sur Saône in Burgundy (France) and the project grew up in Brussel, especially on the legendary scene of the Sounds Jazz Club. With the complicity of young musicians and friends from the Belgian capital, Pierre-Antoine offers an organic and surprising music, where improvisation and reinterpretation describe stories, unique atmospheres and human emotions.

"Trumpeter Pierre-Antoine Savoyat, pianist Simon Groppe, bassist Fil Caporali, and drummer Oscar Georges don't opt for cookie-cutter tunes, but take the necessary risks with layered compositions. With a sultry set in less-than-optimal conditions, they still managed to win over the audience effortlessly."

Georges Tonla Briquet, Jazz' Halo (European Jazz Conference 2024)

While the quartet performs well as a unit, the group also performs in various configurations, often with occasional guests or in settings closely tied to the albums.

They played with us: Ambroos Schepper (saxophone), Hélène Duret (clarinet), Teis Semey (guitar)

Thousand Shades of a Clown

Septet

IMG-20250628-WA0018 (1)_edited.jpg

Pierre-Antoine Savoyat couldn’t have found a better title for this second album! Thanks to his subtle way of contemplating and embellishing space and sound as a composer and as trumpet player, Thousand Shades of a Clown reveals personal and refreshing music with a kaleidoscopic imagination, effervescent with colours and emotions.

The veil of the clown’s mask gradually *fades away* to reveal the essence of his art: tenderness, generosity and humility. Much like a sleeping volcano, we enjoy a poetic quietness always bounded with a boiling energy underneath the surface.y.

Maïli Bernaerts, La Libre (2026)

While the album has a strong sens of unitiy, it delights in adventures and explorations. (...) Each piece opens up a highly expressive space in which poetry, contemplation, occasional anger, and always beauty are shared.

Jean-Claude Vantroyen, Le Soir (2026)

A fantasy world for adults who love adventurous jazz.
